CELEBRATING #DADLIFE WITH CASTELL BARNES
/Written by: Amy Ann
#DADS are just as special as moms, in our book they’re the fun ones! (wouldn’t you agree). We thought we’d pass the torch over to Castell and share the many hats he wears - from daddy duties to inspiring other entrepreneurs!
Amy Ann:
You hold many hats, you’re a: father, husband, mentor, innovator, and the list can go on! How are you able to balance out your life?
Castell J.R. Barnes:
Being an entrepreneur allows me the freedom to create my own schedule, so I’m able to block out certain time slots for each hat. My mornings are for personal development, weekdays for content creation and clients, and my weekends are usually for my munchkin. My Queen also is an entrepreneur, so we are able to build and spend a significant amount of time while working together.
AA:
What do you love most about being a #DAD?
CB:
The fact that I’m able to genuinely love and have fun with my own creation is the best part. Everyday, my daughter reminds me that it is a-okay to live life to the fullest and be relentlessly focus on our legacy. I’m truly fortunate.
AA:
As an entrepreneur, I know that one of your strong suits is being creative. What is on your list for top three creative gifts you’d enjoy for father’s day?
CB:
I would love a class on advanced video editing, Apple Airpods, and tickets to something artsy/interactive to do my family.
AA:
Recently you’ve been able to use our traveler size body butter in the tux scent - tell us about your experience using the product thus far?
CB:
It was amazing. I took it to Mexico with me and surprisingly, the body butter did extremely well under hotter climates. It is smooth, not too oily, and super portable considering my on-the-go lifestyle.
AA:
When it comes to #DADS teaching their little ones something special - what’s one valuable thing you’re looking forward to teaching your little one?
CB:
I can’t wait to fully teach my daughter the hands on ins and outs of our Image Consulting business. Right now, I just want Kennedy to enjoy her childhood, but as she comes of age, the process of nepotism will continue to grow. I want her to encompass a great deal of leadership, work ethic, grit and social responsibility from young.
AA:
In the African American community, there are a lot of individuals who grew up fatherless, how do you think they should celebrate father’s day?
CB:
Honestly, Father’s Day should be everyday, just like Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day etc. We as a community must honor all great male role models in our lives and we have to also identify, address and improve on why the topic of “fatherless children” occurs. Men play an important role in the prosperity and strength of not only the existence of the makeup of families, but mankind itself. We contribute, we love, we protect and we push our families’ legacies forward.
